Scientists of Pittsburgh have discovered a BMI which is as smaller as a Aspirin! It is named as Brain Gate. Brain Gate has successfully worked on a monkey and the on a paralytic patient of age 25! By using this BMI, the patient was successful to change TV channel, reading e-mails, switching on-off the fan etc.

This was a little bit about BMI Technology! It has no doubt that it will be very helpful for those paralyzed patients but don’t know how much it will be helpful for a normal human being!

All About Windows Registry

What is Registry?

Registry is a database where Windows stores all types of settings and option related information, in other word, it consists of all information regarding hardware, software, users etc.

Now, in place of Win 95 or 98, registry was build up with two hidden files - USER.DAT & SYSTEM.DAT, but now it consists with another file. Named CLASSES.DAT

The structure of registry:

Registry is a Hierarchical Structure, just like our disk’s directory tree or Windows explorer. Now if we run the registry editor (Start -> Run -> Regedit), then we will find six main braches, called HIVE. Each hives contains some keys, now every key contains some subkey or value. This value stores all the information in the Registry!

All The Six Hives Of Registry.

1. HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT – It contains all the information related to File Association, OLE and Windows Shorten.

2. HKEY_CURRENT_USER – It consists of all the information for a particular active user who is in log on condition, e.g, logon names, desktop settings or start up menu etc.

3. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE – This hive contains all hardware and software related information.

4. HKEY_USERS – It contains all information related to users. For every user, there exists a SID subkey.

5. HKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG – It stores hardware configuration setting related information of current user related to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.

6. HKEY_DYN_DATA – It stores all information about plug-n-play devices.

Every registry value contains 5 ata types –

REG_BINARY – Here data gathered in Raw binary format, basically it contains binary data related to Hardware component.

REG_DWORD – Here data stored in as byte number. It consists boolesn values e.g, ‘0’ or Disable and ‘1’ or Enable.

REG_MULTI_SZ – Here data stores as multiple string and null character separates each other data.

REG_SZ – Here data stored as simple readable text in standard string form.

EDITING THE REGISTRY

If you open the registry editor you will find a simple ecplorer type window. Which consists of two parts, left side is called Navigation Pane, here we can find all the hives with + and – signs. If we click + sign, the hive will expand and all the key and subkeys will be displayed. And at the right side we will find the values of the key.

To change any value of any key, just double click on it and if you want to delete it, simple right click on it and select delete.

Some Important Registry Editing!

1. How to know System BIOS information?

Find the key

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/HARDWARE/DESCRIPTION/System

Now, at the right side you’ll see some keys, among them, view specified keys-

SystemBiosDate, SystemBiosVersion, etc.

2. How to know full information of your processor?

Find the key

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/HARDWARE/DESCRIPTION/System/Central/Processor/O

Under this hive, you will see many keys, check all these keys to know your processor information! But do not modify it! Some times you’ll find values in Hexadecimal system, in that case, simply switch to decimal mode!

3. How to disable Autorun feature on Windows?

Find the key

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\policies\Explorer\NoDriveTypeAutorun

Among all features of Windows ME or Windows XP the best is System Restore! Now I’m going to tell you a little bit about this system restoration process!

THIS ARTICLE IS FOR THOSE WHO ARE NEW TO COMPUTING WORLD OR NEW TO WINDOWS!

Why Should We Use This Feature?

When we install new softwares on a pc that time some settings of the computer changes due to installation process, now if the changed or modified settings are not suitable for the pc or if the modified settings creates some problems while running the PC, that time we can use System Restore feature to take back your PC in a previous mode, in which settings it was running without any error!

How Does It Work?

If you want to use this feature, your C drive needs 12% to 15% free space. Actually, System Restore creates a snapshot of your PC’s OS when prompted, called Restore Point. For running System Restore you need atleast 200 MB free space on your hard disk. Now if System Restore is in enabled condition, the PC itself creates many restore points after and before some installation or un-installation process. Or we can create restore points manually also! You can store many restore points at-a-time in your PC. In that case, you can restore your PC to any of your selected restore point!

How To Create A Restore Point?

To create a new restore point, please follow

Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> System Restore

Now selest “Create A Restore Point” then click “Next”, Now give a suitable name of this particular restore point you’re going to create -> “Next” -> OK

How To Restore PC In A Particular Restore Point?

Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> System Restore

Press F1 at desktop and then under “Pick A Task“ tab select “Undo Changes To Your Computer With System Restore” Now select “Restore My Computer To An Earlier Time” -> “Next”

Now your PC will prompt you to save all unsaved data running on your PC and then after rebooting, your PC will be restored to your selected Restore Point!

So, now don't forget to make a Restore Point!

How to Avoid Detection of Fake Serial or Cracked Operating Systems on Internet?

Disclaimer: I’ve written this article for educational purpose only!

While using a duplicate or a cracked copy of operating systems or some application softwares, some time we get a message from the software vendor that “You Are Using A Duplicate Copy of XXXX Software!” and then the cracked SW or OS gets blocked or some features of the software gets blocked or the particular application software stops working! Now what to do? For solving this problem you may re-install the application software or you can re-install you OS, but if you maintain some simple steps, you may avoid this type of duplicate software detection!

What’s the matter?

Actually, now-a-days, all the application software has a feature that allows updating it automatically! For this job, every time you connect to the internet, the SW connects it self to its server, so while it contacts with its server, every time it check the serial number or the registration info with the server’s database! Now, the server holds two type of serial’s database, one is of the original serials and another is of blacklisted serials which have detected previously by itself as fake serial! And if your serial or registration info belongs to the blacklisted database or not matched with the original database, then the software gives the message “You Are Using A Duplicate Copy of XXXX Software!”

What To Do?

Simply, you have to turn off the automatic updating feature, which is available at the ‘options’ of the SW! Now, here is another process to stop contacting the server of the SW, you need to re-configure your operating system’s host file, which is a small database of website addresses and their IPs! To do so [In Windows] Go “My Computer -> C: > Windows -> System32 -> Drivers -> Etc -> Open The “Host” File Using Notepad” Now, in every line, write the targeted web address and then give a tab and write IP 127.0.0.1 – this will block this particular websites on your PC!

Now in case of operating systems, simply turn off the firewall and the automatic updating feature!

A Solution Of A Common Problem - "After Double Clicking On Any Folder, Opens Search!"

The first thing is that this problem is caused by a virus! To solve this problem you need to scan your computer by a good antivirus! I suggest to use KASPERSKY or AVAST etc. Now after cleaning all the viruses from your pc you'll see, The problem still exists! Actually the virus has made some changes in your registry! So you need to restore those registry values which have been changed by the virus! Be careful to do so!

To recover this problem, following registry key should be modified:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\Shell - Modify To NONE

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Drive\Shell - Modify To NONE

Then restart you computer!

Now if registry editing is unknown to you then read it carefully!

To do registry editing, go Start -> Run -> Type "regedit" -> Press Enter! Now it will open a window just like Windows Explorer! At the left hand side you have to find the keys!

Linux Or Windows Rescue!

Hi!
Lets do something else!
Whenever we delete some operating system from our computer we face a major problem is that the other existing OS is not booting! :( This may happen in the case of Linux or Windows both! Actual case is, when we delete an OS from our PC it also deletes the Boot Loader (Incase of Linux) or the MBR (Master Boot Record) (In case of Windows)! So its clear that if we need to rescue the existing OS, we need to re-install the MBR or The Boot Loader!

So, Now if you have deleted or formatted Windows XP from your PC and you have an existing LINUX, so you need to re0install the boot loader or the GRUB! [I'm telling you about the case of Red Hat or Fedora type Linux!] So, for reinstalling GRUB, you need to boot your PC with the Linux's disk, which one is intalled on your PC! Then choose "LINUX RESCUE MODE" Now, Run this commands -
chroot /mnt/sysimage
grub-install /dev/sda
Use this two command one after another as mentioned!

Now, If you have deleted Linux from your PC permanently you need to repair MBR of Windows! So boot you pc with Win XP's Disk or the disk of your Windows Version's! Then go to Windows Repair option! Then use he command "fixmbr"! This will rescue your PC!!

In this way I'll tell you how to hack Windows XP password but to do so you have to log in to the target pc with an administrator account!

Now open cmd [Start -> Run -> type "cmd" -> Hit enter], t

hen type "net user" -> Hit enter! Now PC will show all the account names existing on that PC,

Now again type "net user user name new pwd" -> Hit enter!

Here new password should set by you and this simple commands allows you to change any administrator's pwd without prompting old password!

REMEMBER THAT IN CASE OF USER / ACCOUNT'S NAME, LETTER CASES ARE SENSITIVE!

Speed Up Intenet Connection In Windows XP - Vista - Win 7

Hello Everyone!

This is an idea that describes how to speed up Internet Connection’s speed and save data uses in Windows XP!

To do so, just check some common and some hidden settings of your computer!

1. Turn off Automatic Updating in Windows by

Start -> Run -> type “wscui.cpl” -> click automatic updating -> select Turn Off!

This will stop automatic updating and this will stop unnecessary data uses on your internet account and also gives you maximum speed as it does not uses your net connection!

2. In Windows operating system, Windows reserves 20% bandwidth of your internet connection to update it self or to do its online works! So if we can reduce this reserved bandwidth to zero percent then we can use the whole 100% of ournet connection!

Steps: Click Start-->Run-->type "gpedit.msc"

Then go to: Local Computer Policy-->Computer Configuration-->Administrative Templates-->Network-->QOS Packet Scheduler-->Limit Reservable Bandwidth

Here you will find default settings is 20 percent, simply change it to 0%!

3. While downloading some things, I suggest use any download accelerator, I personally happy to use IDM, trial version can be downloaded from www.internetdownloadmanager .com! This will save your time!

4. For safe browsing use Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome instead of Internet Explorer, Now-a-days I’m seeing that Chrome is more faster than Firefox!

5. use a good anti virus to reduce network attacks!

Hello Once Aging Guys!

Today I'm going to tell a great thing that will help you to get online while the cable Internet is not available!

Procedure

Now I'm going to tell you how to make dial-up connections using various mobile operators in India!

The common thing for all mobile phones are that

a) Your phone must have modem enabled!

b) You have to install the modem driver first! Nokia and Sony Ericsson users can use their pc suite for creating those connections!

For Reliance GSM:

At first activate your GPRS by recharging GPRS vouchers!

Then create a dial-up connection -

Start → All Programs → Accessories → Communications → New Connection Wizard

Steps:

Next → Connect to INTERNET → Setup my connection manually → Connect using a dial up modem → ISP Name → Phone Number (*99#) → User name & password (Leave blank) → Next → Finish.

Now connect it, you will see XXXXX is connected at 115.2 Kbps (Its a joke, usually you'll get 2kbps minimus and 20 kbps max, depends on the network signal).

For Airtel and Vodafone:

Activate Mobile Office for Airtel.

Activate Internet for Vodafone!

Dial up number is *99***1 / *99***1# / *99***2# / *99***3#

Any one of these numbers, depends on your handset manufacturer!

Reliance CDMA and TATA Indicom:

Recharge with special Internet vouchers and connect your mobile / walky with pc.

For all other operators contact your customer care for Internet on your mobile, all the procedures will be same just dial up number will be changed and these will be within

To solve it you have to collect a Windows XP bootable cd. The procedures are -

Configure your BIOS setting, change FIRST BOOT DEVICE TO CD/DVD. [To open BIOS press F2 or DELETE {Varies for different mother boards}, then go to BOOT change the setting and save and exit or press F10].

Then insert the cd, when prompts PRESS ANY KEY TO BOOT FROM CD... press a key and wait.

At the first screen when it prompts PRESS ENTER TO SETUP WINDOWS XP, PRESS R TO REPAIR, PRESS F3 TO EXIT that time press "r".

Then a window opes just like DOS.

Here you have to choice your WINDOWS XP usually it is choice 1 i.e, press 1 and enter.

Then type the administrator password if unknown press enter.

Then type these commands-

c:\windows>chkdsk \p

and then chkdsk \r

It solves the problem!
